10th Annual Knoxville Asian Festival

What began as a small celebration in Downtown Knoxville’s Krutch Park and has grown into one of the largest celebrations of Asian culture in the Southeast, the 10th Annual Knox Asian Festival was held at World’s Fair Park on August 26, 2023. Alongside the beloved performances, cuisine, and cultures, festival-goers also got to experience Songkran, a tradition from Thailand’s New Year’s celebrations, and Sumo Wrestling, the national sport of Japan.

People Attended the Festival

The messages of world peace and cooperation rang true, as stated by KnoxNews, “Asian Fest is about celebrating art and culture and introducing it to people in Knoxville and East Tennessee.” In attendance was Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon, who told WBIR: “We have people from all over the world who call Knoxville home, they come for jobs and education but also stay because of the cultural amenities that we offer.”
